| DIY: shoe boxes to design pieces

Shoe boxes are my most favorite storage place. I have them piled up in different cabinets around the house. I would place them everywhere but the design of these boxes is not appealing enough to have them displayed on open shelves. I was thinking of different ways how to embellish their unflattering design and then one day walking into BoConcept I saw this:

Krabice od topánok sú mojím najobľúbenejším odkladacím priestorom. Mám ich naukladaté v skriniach po celom dome. Najradšej by som ich mala vyložené všade, ale s pôvodným dizajnom by to asi nebol dobrý nápad. Rozmýšlala som, ako by sa tieto krabice dali skrášliť a jedného dňa som v BoConcept uvidela toto:

I really liked this idea of fabric covered boxes but then I realized that I didn't like the idea of using the glue. And that's when I came up with this project. All you need is a shoe box and an adhesive wallpaper. It's so easy and inexpensive. And so pretty! 

Zapáčil sa mi nápad pokryť krabice látkou, ale odradilo ma použitie lepidla. A vtedy ma napodol tento projekt. Všetko čo k nemu potrebujete je krabica od topánok a lepiaca tapeta. Je to strašne jednoduché, lacné a výsledok parádny!

The pattern on the wallpaper reminds me of the carpet from the picture we took at my friend's wedding in June.

Vzorka na tapete mi pripomenula túto fotku, ktorú sme urobili na kamarátkinej svadbe v júni.

I enjoy thrifting (proof here and here). Surely there are days when I return home with empty hands and swear that I will never ever return, but then there are those days which make up for all of those unsuccessful ones. Speaking of which, this little side table definitely made my day! We've bargained down the price to 15 euro (!), although looking at the details it definitely needed more investment. Oddly enough, this made me even more excited! There was sandpapering, staining and varnishing and here are some before and after shots.

Mám rada nakupovanie na blšákoch (dôkaz tu a tu). Samozrejme sú dni, keď sa domov vrátim s prázdnymi rukami a zaprisahám sa, že sa tam už viac nevrátim, ale potom sú dni, pre ktoré sa to prehrabávanie haraburdami oplatí. A presne taký bol deň, keď sme na trhu objavili tento stolík a zjednali ho za 15 eur(!). Od začiatku nám však bolo jasné, že na úpravu a dokončenie budeme musieť ešte trochu zainvestovať. Použili sme šmirgel, moridlo a lak a takto stolík vyzeral pred a po úprave.

| handmade wedding: paper flowers and butterflies

it's about time to write few words about veronika and peter on this blog. not only because they are my friends but mostly because they are a couple of spectacular wedding photographers. you can check out their creative work on their website or visit their fb fan page where they regularly update the most stunning pictures. i've had the pleasure to work on several projects with this likable couple. one of these was a fairy tale styled photo shoot for which i've prepared few props and have helped with styling the scenes.

už je načase aby som na tomto blogu napísala pár slov o veronike a peťovi. nielen kvôli tomu, že sú moji priatelia, ale aj kvôli tomu, že sú to užasní svadobní fotografi. ich prácu si môžete pozriet na ich webe alebo tiež na ich fb fan stránke kde pravidelne publikujú nádherné fotky. mala som to potešenie spolupracovať na niekoľkých spoločných projektoch s týmto príjemným párikom. jedným z nich bolo svadobné fotenie v štýle rozprávky, pre ktoré som pripravila zopár rekvizít a pomáhala s prípripravou scén.

this weekend i took off to vienna to explore the bi-annual flea market on neubaugasse street. it was most certainly the biggest flea market i have ever seen. a huge variety of vendors with food, clothes, antiques and second hand goods. surprisingly i only got one thing which i can't even consider a thrift bargain - a funky t-shirt with cartoon zombies. Oh, and meet Baba from Senegal with a friendly smile.

some of the advantages of business travels are, if you are lucky enough, the sightseeing of a new place and great food in local restaurants. gliwice offered both and it offered them well!
